Real Estate Background:

May 2010 – Present: Principal and founder of Podell Real Estate Advisors. Nationwide representation for retailers including: Nine West Footwear Corp. (all retail brands), Kenneth Cole Productions, Carter’s/OshKosh, Rawlings Sporting Goods, Crabtree & Evelyn, and Sugarfina. Currently overseeing 1000+ stores nationwide and opening 100+ new stores annually.

January 2006 – April 2010: Vice President of Real Estate, Jones Retail Corporation, (division of Jones Apparel Group). Executed over 600 transactions nationwide for Nine West, Nine West Outlet, Stuart Weitzman, Brian Atwood, Easy Spirit, Easy Spirit Outlet, Bandolino, Jones New York, Kasper, and Anne Klein. Opened over 150 new stores in malls, outlet centers, downtowns, strip centers, and “lifestyle centers”. Portfolio management for over 350 stores within the Jones portfolio.

January 1996 – December 2005: Senior Vice President of Real Estate and Construction of G+G Retail, Inc., (a Cerberus portfolio company), dba Rave, Rave Girl, and G+G. Opened over 500 new stores (predominately in malls) nationwide and executed over 2000 total deals during the 10 year period including: renewals, options, kickouts, rent reductions, relocations, early terminations, etc.

January 1995 – December 1995: Director of Real Estate for Speedo Authentic Fitness stores (division of Warnaco.) Opened over 100 stores in a 12 month period.

January 1993 – December 1994: Retail real estate broker and consultant. Clients included: Timothy’s World Coffee, Performance Bicycle Shops, Domain Home Furnishings. Opened over 50 new stores in the northeast and Washington.

Rob Kipness

With a diverse career spanning over 23 years in the shopping center industry, Rob has represented many highly successful fashion and specialty retailers. During his business and legal career he has been retained by such brands as L’Occitane, Aeropostale, Guess?, Carlo Pazolini, Godiva, Solstice Sunglasses, US Polo Assn., It’Sugar, Clarin’s Cosmetics, Traffic Shoes, Williams Sonoma, Sephora, Papyrus and many others. Rob was also employed as a senior leasing executive for some of the most prominent retail real estate landlords in the country, including The Pyramid Companies, Corporate Property Investors (CPI) and Simon Property Group.
